1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, password (hashed), phone number (optional), and role (Homeowner or Contractor).

Profile Information: Homeowners may add an address. Contractors may add a business name, service area, specializations, overview bio, profile photo, and portfolio photos.

Job and Bid Data: We store job listings, photos, AI-analyzed descriptions, bids, cost breakdowns, and contract data you create on the platform.

Payment Information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full credit card numbers. We store Stripe session IDs and payment status for escrow tracking.

Communications: Messages sent between users through the platform are stored to support dispute resolution and platform safety.

Usage Data: We collect logs of how you interact with the Service (page views, actions taken) for debugging and improvement. We do not currently use third-party analytics trackers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the Service • Match job postings with nearby contractors • Process payments and manage escrow • Send transactional emails and SMS notifications (new bids, messages, job updates) • Resolve disputes between Homeowners and Contractors • Enforce our Terms of Service and prevent fraud • Comply with legal obligations

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We share limited information as follows:

• Between Homeowners and Contractors: First name and job details are visible to contractors before a bid is accepted. After bid acceptance, full contact details are shared as part of the contract. • Service Providers: We share data with Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Twilio (SMS), OpenAI (job analysis), and Supabase (database/storage). Each is bound by their own privacy policies. • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Job and bid data is retained for 3 years after a job is completed to support dispute resolution and tax records. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 7). Some data may be retained longer if required by law.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser cookies solely for authentication (Supabase session management). We use localStorage to remember your saved/hidden jobs between sessions. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. You can clear cookies and localStorage at any time through your browser settings, which will sign you out.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords via Supabase Auth, role-based database access controls, and signed URLs for private documents (contractor license and insurance files). No system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@fixitbid.app.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. • Correction: Update inaccurate information directly in your profile, or by contacting us. • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data. Note that some data (e.g., completed transaction records) may be retained as required by law. • Portability: Request your data in a portable format. • Opt-out of notifications: You can disable email and SMS notifications by contacting us, though some transactional messages (e.g., payment receipts) cannot be disabled.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
